FUNDING ALERTS:
The following federal grants are currently available to historical societies, genealogical societies, museums and small repositories. Please note that deadlines are approaching quickly.
History Channel "Save Our History" Grants - grants up to $10,000 to fund partnerships between history organizations and schools or
youth groups on projects that teach students about their local history and actively engage them in its preservation. The
2008-2009 application is due by June 6, 2008. Visit www.saveourhistory.com for application.
Records Digitization Project - funding via National Archives Records Administration:
Grant deadline 6/2/2008; maxiumum award $150,000; funding assistance to help digitize - and publish to the web - nationally significant historical documents.
Preservation Assistance for Smaller Institutions - funding via National Endowment for the Humanities:
Grant deadline 5/15/2008; maximum award $6,000; funding assistance to preserve humanities-related materials including special book and journal collections, manuscripts, maps, photos and prints, etc.; organization must work with an archival consultant.
